I'll admit it. I'm
an old-fashioned kind of girl. I like to be treated like a lady,
even though I may not act like one all the time. (yeah yeah, I can
win burping contests. But I can walk in heels too so there!)
And while it is a small thing, it leaves a pretty big impression on me
when there is a door opened in front of me.
But there is something
that has gotten me thinking, and when I think strange things happen.
I was driven to a SKILLET concert by a friend of mine recently.
When we got to his car, he unlocked my door and opened it for me.
*shock* My brothers usually don't have the presence of mind to do
this. It was a good thing. And of course, it started me thinking
about the losses that have occurred due to the new remote keyless entry
systems. You press a button and your door is open. Press it
again and all the doors are open. It's nice. Until you are
driving somewhere with a girl.....and we ALL deserve to be treated like
ladies. (Some feminazis may disagree, but this could be a fun thing
to tick them off with). But the fact that the door is already open
means it does not have to be unlocked for her. Hmm. I guess
one who is really conscious of things could unlock with the button, then
open her door. Or you could pretend that the button thingey isn't
there and unlock it for her anyway. But what happens should one decide
to go to Wal-Mart or Kroger or some store where all one does is step on
the mat and the door swings open?
Perhaps guys should find
other ways to show that they know how to treat a lady. Maybe you
could dig way down deep into the codes of chivalry and stand when a lady
enters a room. Unless you want to have a bunch of girls struggling
with emotional entanglements, I wouldn't recommend taking the hand and
kissing it upon greetings. (my own humble opinion there...)
What else is there? How about taking your coat and spreading it over
mud puddles in our paths? That may be a little far down.....and stupid
if it's cold outside...
Some girls may find all
of this silly and unnecessary. Yet there are those of us who
take comfort in the fact that there just might be a solution in all of
this.
